MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY

Zeta Voila - Tsirou

The Microbiology Laboratory has been operating since October 2004 in Amaliada, Ilia (near the Town Hall), in an easily accessible and friendly space, under the direction of the Medical Biopathologist, Zeta Voila-Tsirou. It is a fully equipped Laboratory with modern analyzers and experienced staff.

OPERATING HOURS

Monday to Friday 6:45 - 15:00 & 18:00 - 20:00
Saturday & Sunday: by appointment

• Sample collection is possible throughout the clinic's operating hours.
• Urgent blood draws outside the scheduled hours are carried out following a phone call.
• Blood draws are performed daily, and home delivery of results is possible – by prior arrangement regarding time and place.
• It is also possible to send the results to the patient or the attending physician by post, fax, or e-mail.

BLOOD TEST PREPARATION

• Fasting, 10 - 12 hours before blood draw is required, avoiding only the consumption of fats, especially of animal origin (cheese - full-fat yogurt - fatty meats, etc.)
• Prolonged fasting or dieting will alter the results. On the day of blood collection, breakfast should be avoided. Water may be consumed freely.
• Regarding smokers, smoking before blood draw does not affect the test results.

QUALITY CONTROL

The Laboratory operates in compliance with all prescribed regulations, having developed and implemented a Quality Management System that fully meets the requirements of the standard: EN ISO 9001:2008 (Business Quality Certification – BQC), with:

• Continuous internal quality control using standard sera from recognized manufacturers.
• Continuous inspection and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
• Repeated testing of samples.
• Continuous modernization and renewal.
• Participation in external quality control programs. The Microbiology Laboratory is included in the National System for External Quality Assessment of Results (ESEAP) in clinical chemistry, continuously monitoring the quality of its results.
• Collection and disposal of infectious waste in accordance with applicable regulations.
• Experienced staff.
• Continuous scientific training and activity of all personnel.

The Analyzers used (updated with every new modern and advanced Analyzer) in the Laboratory for the current year are:

• Two Hematology Analyzers (XS 1000 Sysmex with 26 parameters and Celly with 22 parameters)
• One Hormonal – Immunological Analyzer Cobas e411 by Roche (enhanced chemiluminescence)
• One Hormonal – Immunological Analyzer mini Vidas by Biomerieux
• One Biochemical – Immunological Analyzer Integra 400 by Roche, while coagulation tests are performed with Dade Behring
